Mykola Chernotytskyi was re-elected as the Head of the Public Broadcaster

Mykola Chernotytskyi has been re-elected as the Chairman of the Public Broadcaster. The voting of the Supervisory Board of the broadcaster took place today, with 10 members of the Board voting for the current chairman.

Natalia Lyhachova, head of the NGO “Detector Media” and member of the RPR Coalition Board, said: “I congratulate all of us on the steady continuation of democratic processes in the activities of the Public Broadcaster and in our media sphere. There is a lot of work ahead, including taking into account the constructive criticism of colleagues.”

The chairman of the board of the Public Broadcaster is elected in a competition for a four-year term. As a reminder, the day before, the second stage of the election was held:

Six members of the Supervisory Board voted for former Minister Tkachenko. No one voted for Volodymyr Horkovenko and Mykola Fayengold.

As a reminder, today Public Broadcasting has a high level of trust among news consumers (which continues to grow), and some elements of the broadcaster, such as Ukrainian Radio, are leaders in their segment. The high standards of Public Broadcasting were noted in the European Commission’s report, which stated that Public Broadcasting was not biased by political forces and that the broadcaster should be properly funded for 2025.

The reform of Public Broadcasting is one of the longest and most important in the media sector. The RPR Coalition has been working on it since 2014, so the team has been following the competition.
