The draft law is aimed at disclosure of owners (beneficiaries) of audiovisual media and program service providers. Compulsory annual reporting of media is established, and penalties for failure to disclose ownership schemes are introduced.
The draft law aims to provide government activities leading to more transparent Ukrainian broadcasters and providers, as well as to introduce additional guarantees of freedom of expression and create conditions for transparent licensing broadcasters and free distribution of objective and unbiased information free of any pressure and censorship.
