Olha Piskunova becomes a co-coordinator of the Public Integrity Council

Olha Piskunova, an anti-corruption expert at the Center of Policy and Legal Reform, has become a co-coordinator of the Public Integrity Council. The RPR Coalition congratulates Olha Piskunova on her election!

The Public Integrity Council (or PIC) is an independent public body that has been assisting the High Qualification Commission of Judges in evaluating current judges and selecting candidates for judicial positions since 2016 on the basis of Article 87 of the Law of Ukraine “On the Judiciary and the Status of Judges”.

The Council is called upon to ensure public participation in this procedure, in particular, the PIC has the right to provide the Qualification Commission with binding opinions on the non-compliance of a candidate/judge with the integrity criteria.

In the future, the PIC should also be involved in the selection of judges of the High Anti-Corruption Court. Strengthening the capacity and establishing the secretariat of the Public Integrity Council are among the priority measures of European integration.

The Public Integrity Council consists of twenty members elected for a two-year term. The coordinators will be responsible for organizing the work, planning, and exchanging information with the HQCJ and within the PIC.
