Reanimation Package of Reforms received an official response from the office of the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini to the open letter signed by RPR and a number of civil society organizations ahead of the Association Council’s meeting on December 8th. In its appeal, civil society organizations pointed out to the alarming state of affairs around reforms’ implementation in Ukraine and called on the European Union to continue closely monitoring Ukraine’s compliance with its international commitments. In response to this appeal, Federica Mogherini’s office emphasizes that the support of the European Union for Ukraine is not unconditional and that the recent events in Ukraine may endanger the progress made in combating corruption. EU officials also reiterate that independence, effectiveness and sustainability of anticorruption institutional framework, including of the National Anticorruption Bureau of Ukraine, and the establishment of an effective e-declarations verifications system are of outmost importance for the EU.
