Media-Breakfast: Will State-Owned Enterprises Reform Rescue Ukrainian Economy?

State-owned enterprises (SOEs) have a large share in the Ukrainian economy. However, their potential is not fully used: only 1829 out of 3340 are operating. Moreover, the sector really lacks transparency, supervision and efficient governance. In 2014 SOEs reported aggregated loss of UAH 115 bn.

How to ensure SOEs’ efficient performance? Should these enterprises be privatized? What are the challenges of communication of privatization process and how to overcome negative perception in society? How to ensure independence of SOEs’ management? What should be done to reduce corruption in this sphere?
