Dear colleagues,
We would like to invite you to the media-breakfast “Where is a point of no return of Ukraine’s anti-corruption reform?”, organized for foreign correspondents, representatives of the embassies and international institutions, which will be held on Thursday, December, 17, at 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at the office of the Reanimation Package of Reforms initiative (6 Olhynska St., office 21).
On November, 30, 2015, Prosecutor General considered the short list, proposed by the Selection Panel, and appointed Nazar Kholodnytskyi as a Specialized Anticorruption Prosecutor. A few days later second shortlisted candidate cyborg Maksym Gryshchuk was appointed as a First Deputy SAP. Therefore, as of today Ukraine has two important anticorruption agencies established – the National Anticorruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anticorruption Prosecution (SAP). But it this a real remedy for tackling corruption?
When will newly-created agencies start their full operation? How to ensure irreversibility of punishment for grand corruption cases? How will these anticorruption agencies interact? What is the progress of the establishment of the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NAPC)? What is the role of civil society in ensuring independency of these institutions?
These and other questions will be discussed at the media-breakfast by the speakers:
1. Dmytro Kotlyar – RPR leading expert on anticorruption reform
2. Vitaliy Shabunin – ANTAC Head of Board, RPR expert on anticorruption reform, Head of NABU Public Control Council, Secretary of SAP Selection Panel
3. Andriy Marusov – TI-Ukraine Head of Board, RPR expert on anticorruption reform, Member of NAPC Selection Panel
