All-Ukrainian Civil Society Assembly “SMARTreforms”

On December 1, 2017, at 10:00-17:30, Reanimation Package of Reforms will hold the All-Ukrainian Civil Society Assembly “SMARTreforms”.

Three and half years after the Revolution of Dignity, the majority of proactive and reputable NGOs are still concentrated in Kyiv, which creates an enormous gap between institutional capacities of civil society actors in the capital and the regions. In order to address this issue and to empower regional NGOs to play a more distinct role in advocating reforms before the local authorities, Reanimation Package of Reforms as Ukraine’s largest civil society coalition aims to consolidate civil society representatives from across Ukraine and encourage the creation of local NGO coalitions. The long-term goal of this process is to make the Ukrainian civil society a powerful actor respected at all levels and actively contributing to Ukraine’s democratic transformation with its energy and expertise.

All-Ukrainian Civil Society Assembly should become a starting point to establish and strengthen the ties between the leading NGOs in Kyiv and their regional counterparts. The event will bring together over 400 participants representing national and regional civil society platforms, opinion leaders and activists, state officials, media and international donors who will discuss ongoing challenges to the implementation of reforms and the prospects for the civil society to speak with one voice when developing an effective strategy for further acceleration of the reform process.

During the event, its participants will work to consolidate reform agendas on the national and regional levels and elaborate effective mechanisms to achieve joint objectives in the coming years. The dialogue will be focused on the following issues: decentralization, education, public broadcasting, judicial and anti-corruption reforms, energy efficiency, environmental protection, healthcare, electoral reform, public procurement, open data and e-governance.
